Energetic Medicine

Energetic Medicine, also known as Energy Medicine, is defined as "any energetic or informational interaction with a biological system to bring back homeostasis in the organism." There are different approaches and techniques that therapists use to redirect a person's energy in an effort to restore balance and harmony in the body and also heal the body.

Techniques Used in Energetic Medicine:

AmpCoil therapy is often used with children who have neurological disorders brought on by Lyme disease and other types of toxins. It's based on the theory that the cells in the body need to be tuned to an optimal frequency in order to be in a state of balance. If the cells in the body vibrate in disharmony, it leaves the body susceptible to disease. It uses sound technology to shift the vibration in the body to a state of wellness. According to their website:

"The AmpCoil is a non-invasive PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) sound technology that brings the body back in tune, vibrating in its original, pure state faster than you might expect. PEMF supports whole being wellness, which is in harmony with nature. PEMF is used extensively with athletes for enhanced recovery and performance, and to treat sports-related injuries. It can also be used to support enhanced wellness."

Energy Healing/Reiki:

Energy Healing is also known as Reiki, and it originated in Japan. Energy healers aim to redirect the energy fields around the body. It involves a transfer of energy from the therapist to the patient, as the therapist moves his/her hands and places them on specific areas of the body. The therapist can tell when the energy transfer is complete based on how they stop feeling heat or energy in their hands.

Reiki may prove to be beneficial to children with learning disabilities. It can potentially help with alleviating stress, improve mental clarity, and promote a sense of calm in these kids. Reiki may also help children with Autism manage their symptoms.

Qigong Massage:

Qigong massage may help manage symptoms in children who have Autism. A Qigong massage therapist will attempt to remove blockages in the energy channels that lead to sensory processing difficulties, which many kids with Autism have. According to an article in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Qigong massage can help children with Autism regulate their emotions and improve social skills. It has also been shown to improve the relationship parents have with the child.

Bioenergetic Therapy:

Bioenergetic Therapy is based on the idea that there are several electromagnetic frequencies in the body, and a person's health is dependent on these frequencies. Therapists gauge where a patient's frequencies are out of balance and work to redirect energy in the body to recover the biological and physiological functioning.

According to, "Bioenergetics helps the client learn how to retrain the nervous system, rebalance the electromagnetic flow, and reconnect the mind with the body. Achieving this allows the client to reclaim their inherent pattern of health and well-being."

Cellular Expansion:

Cellular Expansion and Healing may prove beneficial for children with ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome, and other developmental disorders. Cellular Expansion operates under the notion that there is a disconnect in the child's energy system that is preventing them from being in optimal health. Therapists attempt to reopen the conduits for that energy so that it may flow properly, thus allowing the body to heal.

BodyTalk Therapy:

BodyTalk Therapy is based on the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself because it has innate wisdom of how to repair itself and to recover. It operates under the notion that stress impacts overall health -- stresses from external forces interfere with the body’s ability to function, cope, and heal, sometimes causing and often exacerbating physical and emotional health issues. The body communicates through energetic circuitry -- each cell of the body communicates with every other cell. When those cells are broken down, so is the communication within the “body-mind complex.”

BodyTalk Therapy consists of three different steps. First, the therapist uses biofeedback, which means they ask the patient questions and monitor the reactions in their body, based on what muscles tense and relax. Depending on the results, they will then apply specific techniques to rebalance the energy in the body. The last step is an effort to restore faulty lines of communication in the body, focusing on the body's energy circuits.
